Walk For the Cure!

Hi everyone,

Dirk and I, along with Landon (who has juvenile diabetes) and Kyle are going to be walking in the Walk to Cure Diabetes walk on Sat. August 29, 2009. We are trying to raise a minumum of $400.00 to ensure that each member of our family can help raise awareness for the cause by getting a Walk for the Cure T-shirt to wear for the walk. Basically we wanted to let you all know and ask if you wanted to donate or even join our team to walk with us. You can donate any amount and we have a website where you can use your credit or debit card. The link is
http://walk.jdrf.org/walker.cfm?id=87397590 Whatever you can or want to donate is greatly appreciated. Oh, and as I said earlier we are trying to raise at least $400.00 by Aug. 29, but you can still donate after that day as well. Thanks!

Here is the synopsis of the walk from the website:

This year, we'll be taking part in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes along with a half-million other walkers across the country. Our goal: To raise $105 million to help fund research for a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications.
Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes, is a devastating, often deadly disease that affects millions of people--a large and growing percentage of them children.
Many people think type 1 diabetes can be controlled by insulin. While insulin does keep people with type 1 diabetes alive, it is NOT a cure. Aside from the daily challenges of living with type 1 diabetes, there are many severe, often fatal, complications caused by the disease.
That's the bad news... and yes, it's pretty bad.
The good news, though, is that a cure for type 1 diabetes is within reach. In fact, JDRF funding and leadership is associated with most major scientific breakthroughs in type 1 diabetes research to date. And JDRF funds a major portion of all type 1 diabetes research worldwide, more than any other charity.
I'm writing to ask for your support because now more than ever, EACH of us can be a part of bringing about a cure. Each of us can make a real difference
Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as you're able?
Together, we can make the cure a reality.
Thank you,
Sara and the Boys
Please visit my Walk Web page if you would like to donate online or see how close we are to reaching our personal goal:

Thank you!
P.S. We just got back from our vaction to indiana and i plan on blogging about that next, but it may be a few days.

Yummy Dessert's!

So a friend of mine showed me this blog called bakerella and I love it! She is soooooo creative and the dessert's she makes are cute and yummy. So I tried her cheesecake and her mini cheesecake's. I haven't eaten them yet but they smell sooo good. They are for tonight, that is why I haven't eaten them. I also made red velvet cake balls and they are soooooooooooooooooo good! I recommend eating them with milk. They are delicious! I had a hard time making them look cute, but man they are soooo good so who cares what they look like. Hers of course look adorable but I wanted to post pictures of what I made. If you want any of these recipes go to Bakerella.blogspot.com. Enjoy!

Here are the red velet cake balls. They don't look very good but they are to die for! Definitely my favorite!

See, they just look like a jumbled mess, but it is a delicious mess!
These are the mini cheesecake's with raspberries and strawberries on top.
Here is the cheese cake! I made it for Dirk b/c he surprised me and cleaned the whole house while I was gone. Gotta love that! He only likes baked cheesecak and I have never made baked cheesecake until now, and boy does it look good!
I learned how to do the strawberry flower when I sold Pampered Chef. It definitely adds character!

Again the website for the recipes is www.bakerella.blogspot.com
